An automatic (self actuating) centre punch that can leave a mark on many materials including steel, aluminium, timber, plastics and stone.
 
To operate, simply position the tip where you want the mark to be and press downward until you hear the click.
 
These are also handy for creating a guide on material when drilling to stop the drill bit skating around on the surface.
