Presenting the C3D THC. Our in-house designed Torch height controller for CNC plasma systems. Designed to deliver consistent, high-quality cuts across a wide range of plasma CNC machines, the C3D THC gives your CNC the ability to automatically maintain ideal torch height, even on warped or uneven materials.

Whether you’re working with a basic controller or a more advanced system with native THC input, the C3D THC is engineered to adapt to most setups with ease.

Packed with smart features like Dynamic Arc Start Control and Hole Detection Modes, this unit was built to make plasma cutting more accurate, more reliable, and far less manual.

Whether you’re a seasoned fabricator, industrial manufacturer or just getting into hobby CNC plasma, the C3D THC gives you the automation and precision needed to produce cleaner, more consistent cuts — especially on warped or uneven materials. Designed to be both versatile and user-friendly, this unit is ideal for Hobbyists or Commercial/Industrial users alike.

The C3D THC comes loaded with advanced features that help your machine do more of the hard work for you:

Dynamic Arc Start Control

Automatically handles arc starting delays, ensuring clean pierces and improved cut quality.

Hole Detection Mode

Temporarily disables torch height correction and raises up and out during small internal holes to prevent diving issues.

Voltage Feedback Monitoring

Actively tracks and adjusts torch height in real-time to maintain optimal arc conditions.

Flexible Compatibility

Unlike many THC systems, the C3D THC is designed to be flexible:

It works with CNC machines using a stepper motor on the Z axis — perfect for retrofitting machines that don’t natively support torch height signals.

It also supports systems and machines that accept traditional THC Up/Down plasma control THC.

Easy CNC3D Controller integration

If you have a one of our Nighthawk V2 controllers, connecting the C3DTHC to your Nighthawk V2 is a breeze via the Quick link cable available with the Nighthawk bundle options in this listing. It saves most of the wiring and makes for simple configuration.

To get the most out of any CNC plasma cutter setup, we recommend that your setup includes a break-away plasma probing slide assembly. We have created our own affordable option you can check out HERE

Existing Nighthawk user?

Check the last 2 images of the images carousel for how to confirm if you have a V1 or V2 Nighthawk.

⚠️ IMPORTANT⚠️

We have been made aware of an issue affecting users with Unimig plasma cutters where the plasma source can output full torch voltage through the CNC control port, even with a voltage divider installed in the unit. This can cause severe damage to the C3DTHC controller. This was not present in our testing during development of this controller.

We are in consultation with Unimig to resolve this issue.

⚠️ IMPORTANT⚠️

To function correctly, your plasma cutter must provide a divided arc voltage output between 20:1 and 100:1, typically resulting in a signal voltage between 1V to 12V. This is a common feature on most modern plasma cutters with a CNC port fitted.

If your plasma cutter does not have an internal voltage divider, you will need to install one. We strongly recommend using a fully isolated voltage divider to protect your THC and CNC controller. Non-isolated types can lead to electrical noise, interference, or even hardware damage.

Your plasma cutter shoulds also have an Arc OK signal to advise the C3DTHC of it's current arc quality.

If you’ve got questions about compatibility or setup, we’re always here to help. This is a product we’ve put a lot of thought and engineering into — and we can’t wait to see what you build with it.
