These 1 flute DLC threadmills are excellent at producing very precise and straight threads in a variety of materials including almost all types of medium-heavy density plastics, aluminium and brass.

From our testing, these 1 tooth DLC threadmills produce spectacular results as they evacuate chips very effectively and and create very clean and smooth thread.

Fusion360 has threadmilling operations built-in that work quite well with these Threadmills.

These threadmills are typically 3 flutes but larger sizes have 4 to compensate for their diameter and required chip ejection.

These threadmills have a HRC60 hardness rating.

Our PRO endmill range are made using high grade tungsten carbide coated a specialized DLC (diamond like coating) designed to out last and out perform conventional uncoated carbide threadmills. The coating is designed to reduce wear and tear and dissipate heat leaving your threads with a crisp clean finish.

These threadmills are rated for full commercial and industrial use on a regular basis.

Recommended for

  • Plastics (Medium - Hard)
  • Aluminium
  • Brass
  • Composite materials

Please Note

These endmills work extremely well with plastics and alloys but despite their high hardness rating, they are not recommended for steels or other ferrous metals as the high temps of steel machining can cause the coating to degrade.

A proper thread milling operation needs to be done to use these endmills effectively and a pilot hole must be made first to suit the threadmill of your respective thread pattern.

Please be aware that the 8mm variants of these threadmills will not fit in an ER11 collet such as those that are standard with a CNC3D QueenBee or QB2 machine. The maximum size cutting bit that will fit in your ER11 collet is 7mm.

  • What is DLC coating?

Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating is a nano-composite coating that has unique properties of natural diamond such as low friction, high hardness, and high corrosion resistance. These special characteristics make DLC coated tools highly suitable for machining materials that could be difficult to machine with uncoated end mills.

Here are a few key things to know about DLC end mills:

    Longer Tool Life

The DLC coating significantly improves the endurance of the cutting tool, allowing it to withstand high-speed machining for extended periods. The tool life of a DLC-coated end mill can be several times that of an uncoated tool, depending on the application.

    Reduced Friction

DLC coatings exhibit a very low coefficient of friction, which reduces heat generation during cutting. This in turn helps to prolong tool life and improve surface finishes.

    High Speed Machining

Because of their heat resistance and durability, DLC-coated end mills are often used in high-speed machining applications.

    Non-Ferrous Materials

DLC-coated end mills are particularly effective when machining non-ferrous materials such as aluminum or copper alloys, graphite, composites, and certain types of plastics. They are not typically used for steel or other ferrous materials because the high temperatures generated can degrade the coating.

    Improved Surface Finish

Due to their hardness and low friction, DLC-coated end mills can provide better surface finishes, which is beneficial in applications where aesthetic appearance or precise tolerances are important.
