New to all this CNC stuff

Hi all,

I purchased a new 3018 router about 7 years ago and it has been in storage since.

My workers at my Joinery want to get involved with cnc work so I thought I would drag it out of mothballs.

Over the time the cables and accessories were misplaced by previous staff.

Anyway I thought I would upgrade it because our newer computers don't have a printer port etc.

I purchased a scribe the other week and had a couple of questions.

(1) I upgraded the spindle to a 24v 500w er16.

This seems too powerful to run off the scribes spindle output? Would I be best to run a dedicated 24v power supply to the spindle with it's own speed control?

(2) what size are those JST connectors on the board? I have tried 2 different sizes so far without success @%#%*&!

I would really appreciate any help you can offer here and please be aware I will more than likely be back asking future questions 🙂.

As I said, new to this and over 60 so it's all a learning curve. At least I have some basic training in electronics from being a musician since I was 12.

Thank in advance.
